There is a lot of confusion as to what the max level in Assassins Creed: Origins really is, and the answer is that it depends on how many DLCs you have installed.
If you only own the base game without any DLCs, then your max level is 40.
If you own the DLC The Hidden Ones, then your max level is 45.
If you own the DLCs The Hidden Ones and Curse of the Pharaohs, then your max level is 55.
If you only own Curse of the Pharaohs, but not The Hidden Ones, then your max level is still 55.
If you only own the base game without any DLCs, then your max level is 40.
If you own the DLC The Hidden Ones, then your max level is 45.
If you own the DLCs The Hidden Ones and Curse of the Pharaohs, then your max level is 55.
If you only own Curse of the Pharaohs, but not The Hidden Ones, then your max level is still 55.
